Join us for a course where you will learn about issues faced by LGBTQ students and teachers, and how to design inclusive classrooms to address these issues.
We will uncover how homophobic and transphobic discrimination emerged and continues to be pervasive in U.S. public schools. Then we will design strategies that we can use as students, educators, and community members to make schools better spaces for everyone, including LGBTQ persons.
Jason Murphy, a doctoral candidate in the Graduate School of Education whose research examines schools’ anti-bullying efforts to address homophobic and transphobic bullying, will be teaching the course.
