How Sweden Works: Equality, Solidarity, Happiness
Goddagens! Experience a unique opportunity to learn in-person why Sweden consistently ranks as one of the happiest societies on earth. This summer spend one-week in Sweden exploring the country and meeting people who call Sweden home. Organized by the Swedish Workers' Education Association (ABF), students meet daily with government officials, employers, trade union leaders, civil society activists, and journalists learning about what makes this country great.
Course instructor, Dr. Michael Merrill is a nationwide valued labor educator and historian who has been involved in the New Jersey labor movement for numerous years. He is the Director of the LEARN (Labor Education Action Research Network) program here at Rutgers –New Brunswick which provides convenient and inexpensive public access to the most groundbreaking thinking about how to establish our initiatives on a more complete, open-minded and democratic basis, in our society. Dr. Merrill has long-standing contacts with the ABF and with many of the officials, leaders and activists who meet with the class in Stockholm
As a Rutgers Global offering the regular course tuition-and-fees, cover most of the cost of the visit to Sweden.
