In this course, students will spend two weeks on a field trip forecasting and safely viewing severe weather, including the possibility of tornadoes. Students will get firsthand experience and understanding of atmospheric processes that they have forecasted and learned about in a theoretical way. Thus, combining theory with observation allows students to better understand the atmosphere.
Course instructor, Dr. Steve Decker has led these trips numerous times in the past, and teaches about and researches aspects of severe weather forecasting as part of his day-to-day activities at Rutgers.
