If you are an international student who would like to apply to take academic credit courses at Rutgers University this summer, the following eligibility requirements must be met. 

         Eligibility for all courses (in-person and online): 

  • You must be age 18 years or older, and a university student in good standing in your home country. 
  • You must have proficiency in the English language. A TOEFL score of 79 is required for nonnative English speakers before your registration is confirmed. 

         Additional requirements for in-person/hybrid courses: 

  • To qualify for a Rutgers-sponsored F-1 student visa, you must register for enough credits for full-time study. Full-time study is defined as one credit earned for each week of study. 
  • Have a valid passport valid for at least six months beyond your period of stay in the United States (unless exempt by country-specific agreements
  • Show sufficient proof of living expenses 
  • Obtain at least a minimum level of health insurance coverage and show proof of adequate coverage 
  • Evidence of current immigration status if currently in the United States
